1100+ community service hours logged this year by our Psi Chapter from TouroCOM, Harlem

Psi Chapter has had an active and exciting year of establishing and engaging in volunteer work. Since the new executive board was elected in March 2017, our 30 active members have amassed over 1100 general community service hours and 1000 peer-to-peer volunteer hours.

Every Friday, a group of students gather at First Corinthian Baptist Church to aid in its food pantry distribution. Rain or shine, the students dispense donated food and aid in the unloading and storage of the items.

The Psi Chapter teamed up with a local Boy Scouts of America troop to assist the young men in attaining their First-Aid Merit Badge. Members taught key skills such as recognizing the signs of dehydration, attending to injuries, and CPR.

Their “Delish-a-Dish” fundraiser was created in support of Corbin’s Legacy, an organization that provides lunches for elementary children. In a cooking competition styled in an “Iron Chef” fashion, individuals or teams were given a secret and mandatory ingredient. Professors tasted and judged the contenders. This event raised $800.
